Cullman County’s second largest municipality, with a population of approximately 3,320 residents, is located in the central southern portion of the county. Wallace State Community College is located in Hanceville. Wallace State has an average of 6,000 students enrolled each year. The college offers more than 50 programs of study in academic, healthcare and technical areas, as well as continuing education courses and customized job training courses for area industries. Also located in Hanceville is the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery, a cloistered Franciscan Order. The shrine, patterned after Medieval architectural styles, is open to visitors. The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament is home to the Poor Clare Nuns of Perpetual Adoration.
