Cullman County Municipalities
Baileyton
A small agricultural town located on the North East side of Cullman County with a population of approximately 363. Do not let Baileyton’s sparse population fool you. While Baileyton does not have a large number of residents what they do have is an abundance beautiful farms and farm land.
Colony
One of Cullman’s smaller towns with a population of approximately 450 residents. Colony is located just off Interstate 65 at Exit 291 in the southern portion of Cullman County.
Cullman
As the largest municipality in Cullman County with a population of approximately 15,329 residents, Cullman is conveniently located on Interstate 65 Exits 304, 308, and 310. Being located between two of the largest cities in Alabama, Birmingham 45 minutes South and Huntsville 45 minutes North, makes Cullman a prime location for commuters working in either City. One of Cullman’s most well known attractions is the Ave Maria Grotto at St. Bernard Abbey. The Ave Maria Grotto features miniature renditions of famous churches, basilicas, shrines and buildings from all over the word, including a representation of the city of Jerusalem. Built by the abbey’s Brother Joseph in 1934, the grotto is a major tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world.
Dodge City
Located in the southern portion of Cullman County just off Interstate 65 at Exit 299 Dodge City, like Good Hope, is considered one of the gateways to Smith Lake, Cullman County’s biggest and best attraction. A relatively new attraction to Cullman County is located in Dodge City as well, the Stoney Lonesome OHV Park. Stony Lonesome is the first public OHV park of its kind in the state. Open year-round, the 1,456+ acre park will feature trails for ATVs, rock crawlers, dirt bikes, mountain bikers, equestrians, hikers, pedestrians and more.With a population of approximately 612 residents, Dodge City is a growing town and convenient for commuters due its proximity to Smith Lake and I65.
Fairview
Known for its farming and agriculture, Fairview is located on the East side of Cullman County and has an abundance of beautiful rolling farm land. With a population of 542, the Fairview area is known for its friendly residents.
Garden City
Located in the southern part of Cullman County with a population of 595 residents, Garden City’s topography is second to none. If you live in this part of Cullman County, you do not have to travel to see beautiful mountain scenery. It is in abundance in and around the Garden City area. Bangor Cave is also located in Garden City and caving is a popular activity in the area.
Good Hope
Located just off Interstate 65 at Exit 304, Good Hope and exit 304 could be called the gateway to Smith Lake. Smith Lake is Cullman County’s biggest and best attraction. This beautiful clean body of water boasts excellent boating, water sports, and fishing. Good Hope is one of Cullman County’s larger municipalities and has approximately 2150 residents.
Hanceville
Cullman County’s second largest municipality, with a population of approximately 3,320 residents, is located in the central southern portion of the county. Wallace State Community College is located in Hanceville. Wallace State has an average of 6,000 students enrolled each year. The college offers more than 50 programs of study in academic, healthcare and technical areas, as well as continuing education courses and customized job training courses for area industries. Also located in Hanceville is the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery, a cloistered Franciscan Order. The shrine, patterned after Medieval architectural styles, is open to visitors. The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament is home to the Poor Clare Nuns of Perpetual Adoration.
Holly Pond
Located on the eastern side of Cullman County, Holly Pond is known for its agriculture and beautiful farm land. With a population of approximately 700, it is one of most active Municipalities in Cullman County and still growing in industry, retail, and agriculture.
Vinemont
Located in the northern portion of Cullman County, Vinemont has a population of approximately 464 residents. The topography of this area is dramatic and beautiful. Hiking and repelling are two activities that can be enjoyed at Hurricane Creek Park. The Cullman Airport is also located in Vinemont area.
West Point
Located in North West portion of Cullman County, West Point has a population of approximately 550 residents. The West Point area is rich in farming and agriculture. West Point High School is the second largest school in Cullman County.
